strong girls club

this post has nothing to do with our path to adoption unless there's some correlation that i haven't yet realized.
this post has everything to do with my next steps in life though.
in a few short weeks i will be done coaching soccer. not just done for the year, but done for the foreseeable future. this has everything to do with our family's life stage, and nothing to do with wanting to give it up. but it just won't make sense next year with k starting kindergarten.
so as i stare down my remaining days as a soccer coach i'm also preparing to continue coaching, but on a different scale.
i've started studying and preparing to become a certified personal trainer. but there's so much more to it than that.
i love coaching, and throwing back to my years in youth ministry i also really love mentoring high school girls. so when it comes to coaching / training on an individual basis i want to focus on coaching high school & college age girls.
but instead of simply training them up in the fitness and athletic sense {which will obviously be part of it}, i also want to take them shopping and help them learn how to find their own style {not just tag along with the masses}, and help them understand the importance of good food for your body - including the importance of treating yourself sometimes.
why do i want to do this?
because habits are incredibly important, and learning and understanding the impact of good habits in these areas will make a huge difference as girls grow up and branch out on their own.
{sidenote: i think by and large high schools have shifted from trying to prepare students for life, to preparing students for college. a lot of colleges better prepare students for academia than they do for life.}
plus, not only are these things that i do in my own life that i have benefited from, but i've also worked with high schoolers in some capacity for the last twelve years and i really enjoy that age.
and honestly, too many women that i talk to want to have these things as habits, but they never learned, and they don't know where to start.
all of this is still in its infancy in a lot of ways, but i share it here because 1. i'm excited about it, and 2. i'd love to hear your feedback.
good idea? bad idea? what components am i missing?
oh, and i will update on adoption as soon as there's anything to update - right now the waiting and wondering continues!
xoxo
