the spirit of the season

i've been having a heck of a time trying to get into "the spirit of the season" this year. it doesn't feel at all like thanksgiving is less than two days away, nor does it feel like Christmas is right around the corner.

i started my *ahem* our Christmas shopping this week, and while i made significant progress in checking people off of the list, it just doesn't feel like the holiday season is upon us.

over the last few days i've started listening to Christmas music, despite peter's ban on it until after thanksgiving.

i just can't seem to settle into it. of course the 70+ degree weather the past couple days has done nothing to help. it's tough for me to go Christmas shopping in a t-shirt...

anyway, tomorrow we head up to our annual thanksgiving festivities. this year will be a little bit different in that i have 26 miles to run over two days of our time there, but many of the traditions -- like thanksgiving football, black friday shopping, and many different types of delicious food, those will all remain the same.

so, i decided that i needed to look for some thanksgiving, and christmas goodness to help me get into the spirit that i'm missing.
